Johann Heinrich Ehler, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth, and children (Johann Heinrich, age 14; Anna Margaretha, age 11; Elisabeth, age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 8 August 1766 aboard a pink under the command of Lieutenant Moisey Davydov.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Krasnoyar on 20 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 26.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Johann Heinrich Ehler came from the German region of Braunfels.
